Get my head in the game!

Jim bought us this huge wonderful house and I have yet to use it to its full potential. I have a gigantic craft room downstairs that I haven't even stepped into...after complaining for two years that I couldn't do the things I love... Waaa waaa, poor me! :) So, hopefully this weekend I'm going to kick it in gear and organize my stuff so I can start to sew and scrapbook. Aidan wants to paint so that will keep him occupied! Wish me luck! Maybe I'll even hook up the scanner so I can upload pictures of my crafts. Wouldn't that be fantastic!

DISCLAIMER: If the weather is sunny and its over 60 this won't happen!

Vacation

We are finally back from vacation! We went to the Black Hills of South Dakota and had a great time getting away. Jim planned our vacation and did a pretty good job of it!

Day 1 , Friday - We drove to Cheyenne and went shopping at Sierra Trading Post. I bought some really cute boots. After the shopping we continued onto Hot Springs, SD. It is a quiet little town at the south end of the Black Hills. We checked into the Red Rock River Resort. It was a neat hotel in an old sandstone building. We tested out the hot tub and sauna. It was awesome.

Day 2, Saturday - We cruised around and checked out the Mammoth Museum, Crazy Horse, and drove by Mt. Rushmore. The Mammoth Museum was pretty sweet and I hadn't seen Crazy Horse in 15 years (I'm old). Seeing the transformation was pretty cool. we only drove by Mt. Rushmore since it was $10 to park your car and we'd both seen it before. However, I will note that I'm pretty sure the mountain has moved closer to the visitor's center. I was much more impressed this time than I was 15 years ago. I thought it was a ripoff because it was too far from the visitor's center (I was 15....).

Day 3, Sunday - We got massages. Need I say more. We were worthless for the remainder of the day. Literally we did nothing but sleep and watched baseball. That night we got in the hot tub. Again, nothing spectacular but yet, spectacular. Jim did look stellar in the spa robe......

Day 4, Monday - We drove to Deadwood, SD. Along the way we went through Rapid City and we going to check the place out since it was one of their smaller stores but we couldn't find the fu&%#$ place! Go figure. Anyway, no loss there. We also swung by Sturgis. A dreary little town that must have it's population multiplied by 100 during bike week. After cruising through Sturgis we headed to our destination to stay at a great old hotel called the Bullock. We checked into the Roosevelt Suite and cruised the town during the day and got drunk by the night. It was AWESOME! We went to a restaurant/sports bar/casino called Mustang Sally's where we proceeded to drink our respective weights in alcohol while playing pool and Big Game Hunter video games. I also did the "smashing hammer to see how strong you are" game where the bartender said I was "pretty salty for a little girl" - really I only lost to Jim by 35 "points". Anyway, I digress, I am apparently very competitive. I knew I was, but when I'm drunk I'm apparently very competitive. What can I say, I can also sing while I'm drunk, and I sound gooooooood. After we were done drinking and eating hot dogs we went to bed - Jim went to bed - while I listed to him snore through his hiccups. seriously, how do you pass out with the hiccups??

Day 5, Tuesday - We slept in, watched TV, and did a whole lot of nothing, until...... the St. Patrick's Day parade! Who knew a little town could party like that?! Unfortunately we missed the Dancing Nuns show but their float was pretty good... Again, we drank (did not get drunk) and played a couple of games of pool and more Big Game Hunter (I couldn't resist, although I'm apparently a pretty damn good shot when I'm drunk).

Day 6, Wednesday - Damn this day..... I woke up with a cold which made for a horrible drive back. Which is all we did - Nebraska not so great........ Nothing to report.

All-in-all we had a great trip. It was relaxing and at just the right time!

Vacation starts tomorrow :)

Tomorrow we leave for a much needed vacation. Where we are going is a surprise. Jim asked me 6 weeks ago if I wanted to know and I have continuously told him no. Now I'm antsy. After this past week we need a bit of a breather. It's been stressful and we have decided, that despite all that has occurred, we are going on this planned trip.

The thought of Jim planning a trip away for us is so exciting to me and it doesn't really matter where we are going because I'm hooked! He has repeatedly told me not to be excited since he doesn't want me to be disappointed. I can't help it, it's who I am. Anyway, I will definitely take photos and post them once I am able.

If my mom or sister reads this, tell Aidan hello and I love him. I will call him often while he is enjoying his Spring Break! Love, Mom

Everyone else - adios - and no we are not going to Mexico (I've been told I don't need my passport). Darn!!!

Craziness

It has been a crazy few days at work and a couple more to go before the week is over. Tomorrow night I fly Aidan to Boise (arrival at 11:30pm) and turn around and have to be at the airport the next morning at 5! What was I thinking?! Anyway, my day will continue as I work all day and probably do laundry all night because Friday is VACATION!!!! I wish I knew where we were going but the thought of Jim planning a vacation as a surprise for me was far more enticing! I have tried to get a few hints out of him but he isn't budging. All I know is that we are driving, to pack clothing much like if we were staying here, and I don't need my passport (damn)...... I will try to post pictures soon. This is us the last time we flew to Boise occupying ourselves at the airport since I had us there 4 hours early! Once we are on the plane, Aidan's first plane ride, he promptly fell asleep and did the same thing on the way home! Our trip home this time is a little later so hopefully he will remember it!

The Fridge

Yesterday our fridge died. I think it had been quite sick for some time now but only yesterday did we realize it was truly terminal. It started with bad milk (which naturally made me reset the temperature) but the illness finally moved onto the freezer. The apparent freezing and melting of ice cubes tipped me off when they somehow formed into a full fledged iceberg that could have sunk the Titanic. I finally drew the line when my ice cream started forming a stalagmite on the bottom of the freezer. It was like our fridge went to bed at night and took naps during the day. Probably like some employees it was really only a part-timer and, as I found out, one that had short-timers. So, just when we thought we were getting ahead - in walks the iceberg - and out walks the $$$. Pretty sure our house is what actually balances the checkbook. Why couldn't the house want a fancy new washer and dryer in red????

Commitment

I have figured out, albeit slowly, that a blog requires a commitment much like a relationship. I figure I cannot explore all that a blog can inspire me to do if I don't give a little. However, this relationship seems a little one sided (LOL)! I have promised for months to be a better blogger and have failed. Let's admit it I have received my first F - I failed - but much like school there is another semester!!
